Where Frase Shines

Content Briefs Are Exceptional

Frase's content briefs are the best I've used at any price point — including Surfer SEO. The brief generates in under 10 seconds and pulls more comprehensive data than Surfer's Content Planner: more headings, more questions, and a "People Also Ask" section that's scarily accurate.

In my test, Frase's brief for "best AI writing tool for SEO" suggested 18 headings. Surfer suggested 12 for the same keyword. Frase also pulled 15 questions from the SERP; Surfer pulled 8. More data isn't always better, but in this case, the extra questions gave me article angles I wouldn't have thought of.

In practice, this means Frase-optimized articles might score well but miss specific frequency patterns that Google's algorithm picks up on. It's a 5-10% difference in optimization quality — not huge, but it matters at scale.

AI Writer Output Needs Heavy Editing

Frase's built-in AI writer is convenient (no separate Jasper subscription needed), but the output quality is noticeably below Jasper and even Writesonic. Sentences are generic, paragraphs are repetitive, and it tends to repeat the same point in different words. Budget 20-30 minutes of editing per draft.

No SERP Analyzer
